Big Horn REA Round Up Foundation was established in 1999 by the Board of Directors of Big Horn Rural Electric Co. to enable our members to reach out to worthy causes in their communities.
This program is a voluntary program. Should you choose to participate, Big Horn would “round up” your electric bill to the next highest dollar. For example, if your bill is $52.73, we would round it up to $53.00. The additional $.27 would be contributed to the Round Up Foundation fund. On the average, each consumer would contribute $6.00 per year per account. All contributions are tax deductible.
All donations are placed in a fund and administered by an independent Board of Directors which is selected by Big Horn’s Board of Directors. Typically, a good cross-section of community members are selected, those who are fully aware of community needs and people who can make fair decisions about using Round Up Foundation funds. The administration of the funds is separate from our cooperative and totally up to the Round Up Foundation board.
Some of the organizations that have been helped in the past by Big Horn’s consumers are public libraries, volunteer fire departments, playgrounds, community centers and families facing emergencies. To date, over $70,000 has been given to these worthy causes.
