Rates, Rules, and Regulations

Understanding Your Rates & Membership

At Big Horn REA, we operate as a not-for-profit cooperative. This means our rates are designed solely to cover the cost of providing reliable electricity and maintaining the infrastructure that powers our community—not to generate profit for shareholders.

2026 Rate Update

Following a comprehensive cost-of-service study, our Board of Directors approved a rate adjustment effective February 1, 2026.

This change is primarily a "pass-through" to cover a $1 million increase in wholesale power costs from our supplier, Tri-State Generation & Transmission. By adjusting our rates, we ensure the continued stability and reliability of our local grid.
